Important Tools

The tools described below are handy for streamlining your acquisition, viewing and printing of drawings transmitted by email. The usefulness of these tools will extend beyond patent drawings. If you have multiple users in your office, I recommend that these software packages be downloaded once and distributed via your network or disks.

Security
For password protection and file compression for transmittal, I don't think you can beat WinZip. For the price of about 3 FedEx shipments this is a great tool. It has a Netscape plug-in now, too. Click the graphic to investigate. WinZip Now 

View & Print
For now, we are standardizing on the Portable Document Format or PDF files for the viewing and printing of drawings transmitted by email. The software for viewing and printing is called Adobe Acrobat Reader. Now in version 5.x, it is free and is available from Adobe. Acrobat Reader also has a Netscape plug-in for on line viewing.
The newer versions of Acrobat Reader also support a secure password for viewing.		 WinZip Now
